Life coaching takes you from where you are now to where you want to be by examining your current situation, addressing challenges and obstacles, and guiding you to choose an appropriate course of action to help you reach your goals.
This is an important distinction. Life coaching can be very therapeutic for participants, but it is not therapy and I am not a therapist.
Therapy is treatment intended to relieve or heal mental or psychological disorders using psychological means. This means that it is focused in the past and healing the past. Life coaching is focused on the future and taking you from here to there. I do sometimes visit the past with my clients to see how it is affecting the present, but most of our time isn't spent there.
Counseling is multi-faceted, but at its root there is a licensed professional giving advice to help you resolve problems. As a coach, I believe that, usually, we know what we need to do, but are struggling to get there. I help clients discover their own answers within themselves and then create a plan for how they will put that into practice. I do sometimes provide information, resources, exercises, challenges or even advice, but all these are all intended to empower the client to reach their goals, rather than to solve a problem.
I use Zoom for video calls, which is my preferred method. It is free to download and easy to use.
I also offer phone options.
Yes. I do.
Because of the holistic nature of my coaching, I have primarily worked with women. Being a woman myself, I am more versed in the workings of the female brain and body and therefore have more to offer in terms of practical advice and first hand experience.
I am not opposed to taking on a male client if it seems to be a good fit in terms of their goals and my skillset.
I have over a decade of experience in various forms of coaching, mentoring, teaching, and public speaking.
I also spent several years coaching entrepreneurs who were building an industry specific network marketing business from home.
I took all that experience, hundreds of hours of self study, and the personal experiences and knowledge I have gained in my healing journey to create my specific coaching model.
I continue to receive training and get coaching for myself, but have not felt the need to pursue an official certificate at this time, having an abundance of referrals from my current and past clients based on the results my clients are achieving.
